Successful Completion of a unique webinar on deep learning and image processing techniques

he IEEE Power and Energy Society Students Branch Chapter of Green University of Bangladesh and Green University EEE Club(Permanent Campus) successfully completed a unique webinar on deep learning, image processing techniques and its application titled “Can We Create Artificial Intelligence?” on 5th March 2021(Friday) from 6.30 Pm to 8.30 PM.

We had in total 170+ registered participants from different University like DU, NSU, DUET, GUB, AUST, SUST, IUBAT, HMDSTU, etc. and we got response from different country as well like Bangladesh, India, Mauritius, Nigeria, Philippines.

As the Keynote Speaker, Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, Chairperson, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, GUB has enriched the seminar. Prof. Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan graced the event as the Chief Guest and Dr. Md. Ahsanul Alam, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, GUB was the session chair of this technical session.

The Honorable Session Chair, Dr. Md. Ahsanul Alam opened the program by pointing the webinar topic as the unique and significant one as well as expressing gratitude toward the speaker, presented guests, faculty members, organizers, and all the participants. Then he briefly described the webinar’s topic and introduced the keynote speaker’s expertise in this particular field as well as his professional life.

In the next, Keynote Speaker, Dr. ASM Shihavuddin started his technical talk about how with advances in deep learning technologies, one of the challenges researchers face is the lack of datasets. With generative adversarial networks, we can synthesize new dataset learning from smaller examples. Generating new images is true testing of a machine learning algorithm. In that session, he was going through some of the basics of deep learning and demonstrating state-of-the-art methods related to GAN for image augmentation.

Then we had a wonderful interactive question answering session with the keynote speaker. In that segment, he also demonstrates the application of AI and Machine Learning in Power systems and gave some tips and suggestions to beginners.

Lastly, The Honorable Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan gave his valuable speech on modern technology and its impact on our life. He appreciated the keynote speaker for this amazing image augmentation methodology. He also appreciated the organizers for arranging such webinars and inspired us to do more in the future as well.

Then, we had a tremendous online photo session with all participants with their cameras on.
