Successful completion of the Industrial visit to 335 MW Combined cycle power plant (CCPP), EGCB, Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, Department of EEE (Permanent campus)
It is our great pleasure to inform you that on June 04, 2023, the Department of EEE (Permanent campus) successfully completed an industrial visit at Siddhirganj 335MW CCPP, Electricity Generation company of Bangladesh. Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh is a state owned utility and electricity company in Bangladesh and is located in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is also a subsidiary company of Bangladesh power Development board (BPDB).
Around 45 students from Four batches (191+192+193+201 Day batch) participated in this industrial visit. The visit was accompanied by two faculty members from the Department of EEE (PC), Sourav Barua, Lecturer (Sr.level), Dept. of EEE & Bibekananda Nath, Lecturer and Program coordinator (EEE, Permanent campus). The journey started at 8:00 AM from the permanent Campus and reached there at 9:20 AM. On behalf of EGCB, the Executive Engineer (Operation) of EGCB, Md. Nur e alam siddique & Mr. Govindo kumar ghosh, welcomed us. At the very beginning, they shared with us a well-planned schedule for the visit to their plant. The students were divided into two groups for their ease of learning, and Md. Nur-e-alam siddique Executive Engineer (Operation), and Mr. Gazi Hasan Arefin (Subdivisional Engineer, Electrical) EGCB helped them navigate through each section of the plant.
First of all, The students visited the Gas turbine Power plant . They observed the control room monitoring principles there. A sub divisional Engineer demonstrated the plant map and how they control the plant using the latest technology . After visiting several Control Rooms, the students went to take a look at the ground, where they observed the turbine hall, boiler room, gas intake line, cooling water circulation, unit transformer, and Gas Insulated Substation. The control room visit ended at 12:30 PM. A session was conducted by the chief Engineer of the Power plant, Engineer Mir Md. Zinnat Ali. In that interactive session, he explained the mission, vision of the company and described the overall operation of the plant from a technical point of view. The chief Engineer of the plant also answered the queries of the students. In the second session, The expert engineers took the students to a steam turbine power plant and described its operation. At the end, another engineer led the students to the grid substation station, where they saw all the protective devices, instruments, operating principle of the substation and how it was connected to the grid line.
The students took notes of their learning in a notebook and posed questions to the assigned engineers of each section. All the engineers encouraged the students to consider training at their plant. Finally, the trainee executive bid farewell to the students and faculty members. The students and faculty members left the plant at 4:00 PM.
It was a very fruitful and effective learning day for the students. They thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to experience the operation of the power station
