Webinar on “Biomedical Applications of Physics”

The Publication and Departmental Outlook Committee, Dept. of EEE, GUB has successfully organized a webinar on “Biomedical Applications of Physics” on 25 October 2020 at 7:00 PM via zoom online platform.

Prof. Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan, Distinguished professor, Dept. of EEE, Green University of Bangladesh graced the event as chief guest. The Keynote Speaker of the webinar was Md. Moshiur Rahman, Associate professor, Dept. of Physics, Jahangirnagar University. Honorable chairperson, Dept. of EEE, Dr. ASM Shihavuddin also graced us with his valuable presence to chair the program.

The webinar started with the introductory speech from our honorable chairperson. He thanked the keynote speaker for giving his valuable time to make this webinar possible. The honorable chief guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan also shared his valuable thoughts in his opening speech. He expressed the importance of physics and biomedical science as an emerging field for developing new medical treatment methods and applications.

The keynote speaker, Md. Moshiur Rahman, started his speech by thanking the Department of EEE, Green University for making this webinar possible. Some of the key parts of his session are denoted below:

• He showed how physics, as a field of science, was discovered and then established. He also explained how biology and physics became connected to make biomedical applications possible in medical science.
• Different areas of study in biomedical science and their applications were shown and briefly described. He also explained what physicists do in real life as a researcher of biomedical science.
• The inner physics behind some of the groundbreaking medical imaging technologies like CT Scan, MRI, PET were demonstrated by the honorable speaker.

He concluded his speech sharing his opinion about this newly emerging field, that medical physics both as a field of research and job is very promising for physicists and engineers of recent time.

After his session, a fruitful question/answer session was arranged for the audience of the webinar. The keynote speaker, Md. Moshiur Rahman answered all the questions of the participants.

The webinar finally ended after concluding remarks from both honorable chief guest and chairperson. All the participants got some new aspects and ideas about modern biomedical applications and how physics is playing a key role in this field.
