List of Achievements by EEE GREEN in 2020

1) The EEE dept. was the first in Bangladesh to arrange an online faculty meeting via the ZOOM platform back in March 2020.

2) Also the dept. of EEE was first to organize an online seminar on “Future of Nuclear Energy – Do Ternary Fission Reactions hold the key?” to be presented by Dr. Md. Ashaduzzaman, in GUB at the beginning of April.

3) Rigorous and in-depth “Research Interest Mapping” of the faculty members done for fostering research collaboration and student supervision for thesis projects.

4) “Meet the Department” organized for the first time by the EEE dept. was a successful virtual day for interacting with students.

5. The Nationwide Mega contest “Battle of Brains” was completed very smoothly on 13th September at 7 pm, by the Department of EEE which is the first attempt in an online quiz contest nationally in Bangladesh where 674 students from 53 public and private universities participated. Hasibul Hasan Rahim (Id 201001176) from EEE scored the highest from any private university and secured 9^th position amount 53 universities for GUB at Battle of Brains.

6. ‘Dhaka-AI’ is the first ground-breaking race for AI in Bangladesh involving an international AI-based Dhaka Traffic Detection Challenge (a) funded by Elsevier co-organized during STI 2020. With 200+ teams, 500+ participants, This event has been ranked among the Top 10 global challenges for youth in 2020 by AlphaGamma.EU.

7) Highly trained faculty members on state-of-the-art knowledge and skill set related to ONLINE TEACHING, LEARNING, AND EVALUATION SYSTEMS. As per the study by BdREN, Green University of Bangladesh performed the 2nd highest online classes among all the universities in Bangladesh. The above 90 percent attendance counts are observed in most of the classes.

8) Adhoc Alumni committee being formed where 500+ have already registered as a member.

9) To inspire the students and to show the student’s right path in career, Dept. of EEE successfully organized “Career Counselling with Aspiring and Inspiring Students”.

10) From the marvelous idea of video collection of the Experiments in Labs courses, Dept. of EEE has started to work on it and it has a great impact on safely teaching and learning in this pandemic situation. 12+ new and modern laboratory under construction including both permanent and City campuses

11) EEE Department, GUB now has the 5th PES society in Bangladesh.

12) Center of Research on Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems (ReSES) is the thriving research initiative in renewable energy from our department.

13) The journey of the Facebook, YouTube channel, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, Google Classroom, CRI for Dept. of EEE has started and is gaining popularity with time.

14) Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman and Dr. A. A. Monzur Ul-AKhir played the key role in online indexing of GUBJSE though bangla JOL and getting DOI number.

15) From the publication status of faculty members of Dept. of EEE in 2020, it is seen that the number of publications is 53+ and the total impact factor is 92+ which is way more than other Departments. The best researcher in GUB in 2020 with 6 publications of 20+ impact factor is Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman from EEE Department

16) Novel Collaborative supervision of 10 groups with 4 supervisors – Hybrid system-based megaproject is a new initiative by EEE Green

17) Extensive works are underway for Outcome-Based Education (OBE) implementation with an up to date syllabus, capstone project, CO, PO, etc. 3 members from the EEE department at the central OBE committee. In CETL, GUB – 2 master trainers and the director are also from the EEE Green.

18) Seven faculty members of the Dept. of EEE are PhD holders and three faculty members are on the way to pursue PhD degrees.

19) ICT Grant was received by Dr. Ahmed Al Mansur for a project regarding increasing solar panel efficiency. A patent work: Artificial Sun Simulator– Patent No. 244 of 2020 by Dr. Ahmed Al Mansur and his team is also an achievement during this time.

20) The first-ever and the only global IEEE Sponsored international conference in Bangladesh titled ‘STI 2020’ (2nd International Conference on Sustainable Technology for Industry 4.0) is organized by the Faculty of Science and Engineering by Green University of Bangladesh.
