Department of EEE Honours GUB Mars Rover Team for Historic Success at the Anatolian Rover Challenge 2026

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Green University of Bangladesh, in association with the Green EEE Club, hosted an Appreciation Programme on Monday, 31 August 2026, at 2:00 PM in Room E-106 to honour the GUB Mars Rover Team for its outstanding performance at the Anatolian Rover Challenge 2026.

Competing against teams from across the world, the GUB Mars Rover Team secured 6th position overall and was adjudged Champion in Asia — an achievement that has brought considerable distinction to the University and to the engineering community of Bangladesh.

A total of fifteen members were honoured with the traditional Uttorio (উত্তরীয়), comprising eleven team members along with four moderator, advisors and mentors whose guidance shaped the team's journey.

Programme Proceedings

The programme opened with remarks from Abdullah Al Masud, Mentor, Green Robotics Society, who introduced each member of the team to the audience. Reflecting on the campaign, he spoke of the demanding days the team endured through the course of the competition and commended the members for their perseverance and sustained hard work. He further conveyed his gratitude to the University authority for the support extended to the team at every stage.

Two members of the team, Sahria Bin Salam and Shahariare Mahamud, then shared their first-hand experiences from the field, offering the audience an account of the technical and logistical demands of competing at an international rover challenge.

Mr. Sourav Barua, Advisor to the team, followed with a reflection on the struggles the team faced in the period leading up to their departure, describing the preparation, testing and problem-solving that preceded the flight.

Mr. M. M. Naushad Ali, Moderator, subsequently acknowledged the contribution of the Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, noting that the team's participation and success had long been a vision he held for the University.

Conferment of Honour

Following the speeches, the traditional Uttorio were conferred upon all fifteen honourees by Distinguished Prof. Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan, Prof. Dr. ASM Shihavuddin and Dr. Md. Hasan Maruf,Chairperson,Dept of EEE in recognition of their collective contribution to the University's achievement on the international stage.

The programme concluded with a formal group photograph with the honourees, faculty members and guests.
