The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), organized a workshop titled “Workshop on OBE Framework: Formulation and Assessment of Complex Engineering Problem (CEP), Complex Engineering Activities (CEA) and Final Year Design Projects (FYDP) for BAETE Accreditation” on October 17, 2026, at Room A-508, GUB.

The workshop featured Prof. Dr. Md Kafiul Islam, Professor, Department of EEE, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), and Associate Director of Quality Assurance, BAETE-IEB, as the resource person. The session commenced with Mr. M. M. Naushad Ali welcoming the resource person and initiating the workshop.

During the technical session, Prof. Dr. Md Kafiul Islam elaborated on the practical implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in accordance with the BAETE Accreditation Criteria, Version 3.0. His presentation focused on the identification and formulation of complex engineering problems, the assessment of complex engineering activities, and the development of effective assessment strategies for final-year design projects. He also discussed aligning Course Outcomes (COs) with Program Outcomes (POs), identifying relevant problem and activity attributes, designing assessment tasks and rubrics, and collecting appropriate evidence of individual student attainment. Practical examples and interactive activities illustrated how faculty members could strengthen assessment practices and documentation for accreditation.

The presentation was followed by an engaging discussion in which faculty members raised numerous constructive questions, shared perspectives, and explored practical challenges related to CEP-based teaching, assessment, and FYDP evaluation. Their active participation contributed to a productive exchange of ideas on strengthening OBE implementation and improving the quality of academic assessment and accreditation-related documentation.

Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GUB, Professor of the Department of EEE, and Director of IQAC, subsequently shared his valuable insights on the importance of effective OBE implementation, continuous quality improvement, and collective faculty engagement in advancing the university’s academic standards and accreditation efforts.

Following this, Dr. Md. Hasan Maruf, Chairperson and Associate Professor of the Department of EEE and Session Chair, shared his perspectives on the workshop’s key themes and expressed his sincere appreciation to all faculty members for their active participation. He also thanked the resource person for sharing his expertise and practical insights.

The workshop concluded with the presentation of a crest to Prof. Dr. Md Kafiul Islam as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution. Certificates were subsequently distributed to the participating faculty members in recognition of their engagement in the workshop.

The workshop marked a valuable initiative toward enhancing faculty understanding of CEP and CEA formulation, evidence-based assessment, and FYDP evaluation under the BAETE accreditation framework. It further reinforced the Department of EEE’s commitment to continuous quality improvement, effective implementation of OBE practices, and the preparation of robust assessment evidence in support of its ongoing accreditation efforts.
