EEE Day Two
GREENTECH VIRTUAL VISION 2020
The day started with the Greentech Virtual Vision 2020 (Poster presentation) event. Teams from different universities participated in this event. In the beginning of the program, the chairperson of the EEE department, Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, inaugurated the program with a welcome speech. Then the deputy moderator of EEE club, Mr. Sourav Barua delivered his greeting speech for the audience and presented the outline of the session. Many participants took part in the event and presented their ideas beautifully in front of a judge panel. Each participant was allocated 7 minutes for their ideas with an additional 3 minutes for answering questions from the Judge panel. The members of the Judge Panel were:

- Mr. Sourav Barua, Lecturer and Program, Coordinator, Dept. of EEE, GUB
- Mr. Meer Shadman Shafkat Tanjim, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE (External), European University of Bangladesh
They gave their fruitful judgment and inspirational comments on poster presentations to motivate the participants to build up their innovative thoughts and ideas. Some groups were awarded for their outstanding projects whereas Sajib Biswas and Abu Raihan secured first position from EEE department of GUB.
WEBINAR ON SMART GRID IN BANGLADESH: PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES
The 2nd session of the EEE day was a webinar entitled “Smart Grid in Bangladesh: Prospects and Challenges ” organized by IEEE PES SBC GUB which started from 1:00 pm. Distinguished Professor & Advisor, Dept. of EEE, Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan welcomed the guests and talked about the advantage of arranging such type of webinar will be highly beneficial for both students and faculty members. The keynote speaker Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, Professor of Department of EEE, Independent University of Bangladesh highlighted the infrastructural difference between the conventional power grid and smart grid. He also mentioned the prospects and challenges in the implementation of smart grid in Bangladesh. The Chief Guest Major General Moin Uddin, Chairman of BREB, adorned us with his valuable presence. He discussed the scopes and opportunities to convert the power grid of Bangladesh to the Smart Grid.
SEMINAR ON CAREER PROSPECTS IN EEE
The 3rd event was the Seminar on “Career prospects in EEE” successfully carried by Khan Rahmat Ullah, PhD Researcher, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. Through this event students from home and abroad introduced themselves and shared their experiences with current students. In the presence of honorable guests, an open discussion about career paths in different sectors was held with students. The keynote speaker broadly discussed some determining factors that will help a graduate to choose their career path in a right way. He also focused on issues like higher studies, university ranking, professor profile, job sector in power companies, quality project development at the undergrad level, etc. This session concluded with a fruitful Q/A session.
INDUSTRIAL JOB FAIR
The 4th and final event of the day was titled “Industrial Job Fair” which started at sharp 3:30 pm. The main purpose of the event was to raise awareness regarding job issues among the students of the EEE department. Some leading companies named Sarens Bangladesh Private Ltd, Momoda Foundation, Solar Tie Ltd., Project Management & Engineering consultant (ProMEC), Bangladesh steel re-rolling mills limited, etc. participated in this event. They gave a sharp guideline on how to make a standard CV and to be prepared for a job interview.
PRIZE GIVING CEREMONYof EEE DAY 2020
The prize-giving ceremony started at 5:30 pm with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran and Bhagavad Gita. The deputy moderator of EEE Club Mr. Sourav Barua expressed his gratitude and thanked the Keynote speakers of the seminars, Judges of contests, EEE Alumni Association members and Companies attended the job fair event. Professor Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan stated that the EEE department has reached a new platform by organizing different online events. Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman appreciated the participation of foreign students in different events that will reach our event as an international level.
Mr. Md. Noor Alam, Deputy Managing Director, Elite Hi-tech Industries Limited expressed his joy to be present here and praised the active activities of EEE department despite the pandemic situation. Honorable Pro-Vc, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque delivered a spiritual and informative speech to the audience. He referred to some suggestions for students to be active learners in online education. He shared his experience of such successful online event management will be beneficial for the university to arrange the next big event STI-2020.
The Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir thanked everyone and mentioned that the EEE department plays a leading role in this new normal situation. He also emphasized that this kind of co-curricular activities will help the students to boost up their knowledge and productivity. They congratulated all the winners and thanked participants, speakers, faculty members, and club members for their continuous support and effort in organizing EEE DAY 2020.
Finally, the EEE club Committee announced the name of the winners of different segments of the two-day-long program by providing E-certificates. The program concluded with the closing speech of the chairperson of the EEE department.
