Successful Completion of Workshop on Robot Controls: Beginner’s Guide

We’re very delighted to share that a day-long workshop on “Robot Controls: The Beginner’s Guide”, organized by Green Robotics Society (GRS) in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was successfully held on March 6, 2023, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Permanent Campus (Seminar Room No: 302). About 65 individual participants from EEE and CSE department from both City Campus and Permanent Campus students participated in this workshop. They have learned to build Line Following Robots (LFR) with both the hardware setup and the coding. They seemed very excited to participate in this workshop.

The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of robot controls and programming, and I am happy to say that it fulfilled its objectives. The participants gained hands-on experience in controlling and programming robots through a series of practical sessions, which gave them real-time experience in working with robotics. And we were highly delighted to have ASM Ahsanul Sarkar Akib, Cofounder & Technical Director of Japan Bangladesh Robotics and Advanced Technology Research Center (JBRATRC), and CEO of Robo Tech Valley as our instructor of the workshop. His expertise in the field of robotics and his ability to deliver engaging and informative sessions was instrumental in the workshop’s success.

The honorable Chairperson of the Department of EEE, Prof. Dr. ASM Shihavuddin attained the session in the afternoon. The honorable Campus Director of GUB Permanent Campus, Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman visited the venue during the opening. He was accompanied by Dr. Mohammed Nazmus Shakib, Associate Professor, Associate Chairperson, Department of Electrical and Electrical Engineering and Moderator, Green Robotics Society, and Dr. Mohammad Delwar Hussain, respected Assistant Professor Department of GBS, and Md. Solaiman Mia, respected Assistant Professor Department of CSE. Later Dr. Faiz Al Faisal, the respected Assistant Professor & Associate Chairperson of the Department of CSE Permanent Campus also visited the workshop venue. They were very impressed with the organization of the workshop.

Then the award-giving ceremony started at 05:00 PM. Our Chief Guest Prof. Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, Chairperson of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering graced the program with his valuable and inspirational speech and the honorable treasurer Professor Dr. Fayzur Rahman joined the session online. Then the chairperson of the EEE department motivated and guided the new robot enthusiast about the robotics trends through his speech. He also showed his gratitude to all the organizers of the event.

At the end of the session, a mini-competition was launched. In the competition, all 10 teams participated and among them, a winner was identified through some rubrics. The team was rewarded by the honorable chairperson of the EEE department Prof. Dr. ASM Shihavuddin and the instructor ASM Ahsanul Sarkar Akib.

Afterward, we congratulated all the participants who attended the workshop and made it a successful event.
