Constitution for EEE Alumni Association, GUB 

1. Vision

EEE Alumni Association, GUB, aspires to be a primary linkage between the university and its family of alumni across the nation, to commit them to the university's missions of lifelong learning, discovery and engagement, and to attract them to university service.

2. Mission

The mission of EEE alumni is to facilitate the development of well rounded, educated, productive, and ethical individuals who are well versed in technology and in social, political, and environmental issues.

3. Goals

EEE Alumni Association, GUB, is an independent, non-profit organization whose purpose IS to promote the welfare of the university by cultivating a mutually beneficial relationship between alumni and the Department of EEE, GUB. The goals of the EEE Alumni Association, GUB, are:

  • Developing within each student a robust repertoire of professional skills, to provide each with avenues for exploring diverse interests, and to launch each successfully into one of a variety of careers offering lifelong learning, service, and leadership within their own local, national and global communities.

  • ·Keeping alumni conversant with the programs and activities of the EEE department of GUB.

  • ·Developing alumni programs that foster fellowship among alumni and encourage the physical, moral, and spiritual growth of the EEE department.

  • Providing an alumni network and encouraging alumni engagement in the life of the university.

  • Providing financial and other technical support to the EEE department and its programs. Coordinating activities for advancing the university's academic, administrative, athletic, research and outreach programs.

  • Encouraging alumni to stay connected and serve as advocates for the university. 

4. Core Values

EEE Alumni Association, GUB, adheres to the following core institutional values:

5. Name and Motto

The name of the organization will be "EEE Alumni Association, GUB" In brief it will be referred to as: "EX-EEEGREEN".

The Motto of the association will be "WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS".

6. Objectives

The objectives of the EEE Alumni Association, GUB, shall be:

  • To build the Association as a true professional organization.

  • To contribute to the development activities in the country.

  • To hold seminars, symposiums, workshops, debate and discussion on matters of various professional activities and technological advancements.

  • To build up relationships among the members of the Association through cultural, social and welfare programs.

  • To arrange training programs for existing and new Alumni.

  • To look after the welfare of the members of the Association.

  • To highlight the problems & prospects of the professionals, modern concepts, etc through different media, journal publication, etc.

  • To establish a center for research on various job fields and training of various professionals.

  • To make liaison with other Associations at home and abroad to exchange views and ideas, take up various projects jointly and arrange exchange programs between various organizations at home and abroad.

  • To unite the members of the Association in the bonds of friendship, fellowship & mutual understanding through arranging reunion, picnic, tour, sports etc.

  • To encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in the profession.

  • To make arrangements for continuing education programs to update knowledge of earlier.

7. Membership

The membership criteria of the EEE Alumni Association, GUB, shall be:

  • Membership shall include all EEE graduates recognized by GUB.

  • All registered Alumni of the Department of EEE will be Regular Members of the association.

  • Experts in the industry, professionals and senior officials of GUB will be eligible to become honorary members.

Honorary members will be selected from majority support of active members. All non-alumni faculty members of the Department of EEE are eligible to join the association as honorary members.

8. Executive Committee

Every executive committee shall at least have the following members:

  • President (l)

  • Vice-Presidents (2)*

  • Treasurer (1)

  • General Secretary (1)** Publication Secretary (1)**

  • Organizing Secretary (1)**

  • General Members *

  • Advisors *

The number of persons holding these positions can be varied according to the necessity.
* Multiple sub-ordinate members can be assigned under these titles.

Executive committee members can be selected through interview / election. Each executive committee should be formed for a two (2) year tenure. The existing committee can be renewed on an ad hoc basis for consecutive terms based on the necessity.

9. Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the office bearers shall be as follows:

  • President: He/she shall be the Chief Executive of the association. The president will preside at all meetings of the Executive Committee and General Meeting of the association. He/she will coordinate activities among all the office-bearers and will be responsible for successful implementation of any program of the association.

  • Vice-President: If the President is unable to perform the duties of his/her office for any reason, the Vice-president next in rank, shall occupy his/her position and perform his/her duties with the same authority as the President. Each Vice-president shall work under the direction of the President, oversee the functioning of the association and will cooperate with the office bearers to implement the policy and/or program of the association.

  • Treasurer: He/she shall receive all money/fees receivable by the association and deposit the same in a bank account. He/she will pay all dues payable by the association. All cheques and vouchers shall be signed by him/her and countersigned by either President or General Secretary. He/she will be custodian of all financial instruments and records. If the Treasurer is unable to perform his/her duties of the office for any reason, the Joint Treasurer next in rank, shall occupy the position and perform his duties with the same authorities as the Treasurer.

  • General Secretary: He/she shall be under the supervision and direction of the President and act as the liaison person between the Executive Committee and the association. He/she will be the Chief Executing Officer of the association. In fulfillment of this, he/she shall:

a) issue notice of all the meetings in consultation with the President,

b) submit reports to the Executive Committee meetings as well as the General Meeting.

c) prepare minutes of the meeting and preserve the same.

d) circulate all decisions, policies and programs among the members.

e) have custody, keep and maintain all records, assets and properties.

  • If the General Secretary is unable to perform his/her duties of the office for any reason, the Joint Secretary next in rank, shall occupy the position and perform his duties with the same authorities as the General Secretary.

  • Publication Secretary: His/her responsibility includes publication of articles, research reports, yearly reports, bulletins, souvenirs, journal, albums, booklets etc. of the association.

  • Organizing Secretary: He/she will be responsible to create, maintain, initiate and implement a program to increase membership and development of the association.

  • Information Secretary: He/she will act like a Data Bank of the association. He/she will create, maintain and develop a positive image of the association as a public relation officer. The website, social networking sites, group email etc. will be supervised by him/her.

  • Cultural Secretary: His/her duties will be:

a) to arrange cultural and recreational activities like picnic, tour, cultural event etc.

b) to arrange cultural competition, sports etc. among the members of the association.

  • Office Secretary: His/her responsibility is to maintain the office of the association.

  • Executive Members:

a) To cooperate with the departmental secretaries in performing their duties.

b) To participate in the programs and activities undertaken by the association.

 

10. Fund Collection

  • The source of fund of the association shall be as follows:

  • ·Membership Fees:

a) BDT 500 for General Members

b) BDT 1000 for Life-time Members

  • Donation from the alumni.

  • Sponsorship from external sources.

  • Earning through training programs, research projects, publication of booklets, newsletters, souvenirs, etc.

11. Constitution Amendment

This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of those present at any meeting of the general members, at which a quorum is present, and provided notice of the amendment is included in the notice of the meeting. Proposed amendments shall be submitted in writing to the executive committee members at least 30 days prior to the meeting at which such amendments are to be considered.

12. Conclusion

In conclusion, the EEE Alumni Association, GUB will work relentlessly towards progressing the legacy of the Department of EEE, Green University of Bangladesh and facilitate its graduates to transition into an important asset of the society.
